About the course
Aim
The course should provide a computer technical basis on how simple processors work and are programmed at the lowest level. The laboratory elements, through experimental implementation in the lab computer system, will provide practice in applying abstract models and troubleshooting methodology. The laboratories must also practice the ability to work in groups. Data sheets and manuals practice reading technical literature.
After completing the course, the student must be able to:
- Program a processor at assembler level
- Use a processor in an embedded system
These goals are achieved by using assembler.
Content
Binary arithmetic:Number representations. Arithmetic-logical functions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, shifts.
Computer architecture:Internal dataflow in a simple computer model. Instructions, instruction formats, addressing modes, input and output, interrupts.
Input- and output peripherals.Ports, A/D-conversions.
Mikrocontroller:Purpose and features. Built-in peripherals, timers, clocking alternatives.
