About the course
Aim
The main objective is for students to develop their interdisciplinary design skills in sociotechnical contexts. After the completed course the student shall be able to
- Plan and facilitate a sociotechnical intervention, meaning a designerly action involving human and non-human actors and having an impact on a real-world sociotechnical system.
- Apply disciplinary skills in a multidisciplinary context.
- Account for the history and foundational concepts of participatory design, and reflect upon their relations to the challenge area.
Content
Students engage with sociotechnical situations presenting design challenges on the level of social organization and communication. An example of such a challenge could be the theme of civility.
