About the course
Aim
After the course the student will be able to:
- Be able to explain and exemplify for fiber reinforced composite materials structures, uses and manufacturing methods
- Be able to reflect on how materials, tools and the production process interacts and use this in new manufacturing contexts
- Exemplify how relevant standards and safety directives can affect the production system
- Demonstrate knowledge on methods and technology for collaborative applications (humans and robots sharing workspace and/or task)
- Collate a technical report with an analysis and present it verbally
Content
The aim of this course is to give the student knowledge about the production system, the technologies, processes, directives and the interactions between them. Advanced production processes, technologies and systems are used to illustrate these links. Examples of such are composite materials and manufacturing and collaborative applications where humans and robots work together in the same, shared space and/or task. These are put in relation to material requirements, tooling technologies, standards, work environment & safety directives etc. The course will have a production engineering focus and present industrial practice. Finally, the course contains an element where the student shall make an investigation of a method or process and present this in a technical report as well as a verbal presentation.
The course lectures will present the processes, materials, directives and technologies. The course also contains laboratory work and study visits that will deepen the understanding of specific production processes or technologies. The course content is applied in an investigative project that is summarized in a report and presented.
