About the course
Aim
The aim of the course is that the students should gain enough experience in using the computer labs to facilitate future course work, and also that the students should gain basic understanding of programming. After the course, the student will be able to:
- without problems use the computer labs provided by the university
- understand basic concepts in programming
- construct programs in Python using basic data structures and control structures
- use and implement higher order functions
- find and correct mistakes in programs through testing and debugging
Content
The following topics are addressed during the course:
- the university's IT systems
- basic concepts in programming, such as variables, functions, data types and control structures
- the Python programming language and its constructs
- basic forms of functional programming and higher order functions
- methods for testing and troubleshooting
