About the course
Aim
The bachelor's project is designed to provide practical experiences in electronic design, both on the technical and administrative levels. After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Develop and implement a project plan
- Design and develop an (autonomous) embedded system
- Collaborate and contribute to the work in a project group
- Present and give relevant and constructive feedback to project results in written and oral form
- Describe and explain ethical challenges related to the engineering profession and technological development
Content
In the project, both hardware and software are developed, from the requirements specification to the finished product. Lectures and project work aim to provide knowledge in areas such as design, programming, system integration, and project methodology, including:
- Project work: problem formulation, planning, roles, organization, specifications, project documentation, reporting, information retrieval, the LIPS project model, design documentation, oral presentation, and opposition.
- Systems theory: specification, modeling, structuring, design, partitioning, hierarchies, implementation methods, hardware–software integration, troubleshooting methodology, testing, and verification.
- Programming: real-time programming, programming in C/C++ and Python, version control, code commenting.
- Sensors, communication, and control: data acquisition using sensors, interfaces, and communication protocols, control theory principles, real-time data handling, integration of hardware and software for monitoring and control.
- Engineering ethics: reflection on ethical challenges related to the engineering profession and technological development.
