About the course

Aim

The course aims for participants to use their knowledge from various course such as optimizaton and queueing theory in the telecommunication field. Moreover, participants will have to have knowledge in data communications, networks, wireless, communication protocols for wireless and mobile networks. The course features software tools commonly used for analyzing and modeling telecommunication system. The focus on the application of theory/methods for modeling and solving problems originating from the area of telecommunication.

After completing the course, the participants are expected to be able to:

  • Describe fundamental theory and methods in combinatorial methods used.
  • Describe problems in the area of telecommunications.
  • Explain concepts related to problem complexity and the impact of complexity on telecommunication models.
  • Identify the most essential components in building telecommunication model.
  • Use a modeling system for setting up telecommunication essential components and problem solving.
  • Describe and apply modern heuristics.
  • Characterize the main quantitative methods for performance evaluation of telecommunication.
  • Explain the advantages and drawbacks of using software models as a tool for analysing telecommunication.
  • Express common assumptions, simplifications, and generalisations made in modeling telecommunication systems.
  • Implement, verify and validate software models of telecommunication systems.
  • Design, build, and experiment with software models, as well as evaluate the results obtained by model.

Content

Advanced topics in modeling telecommunication field, mainly within telecommunication systems, quality of service and performance engineering. These topics include modeling and performance analysis of telecommunication systems. Encompass Tools and software for problems.
