About the course
Aim
The course aims to provide knowledge on concepts, principles and practices of interactive information design.
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Select, motivate and apply appropriate principles and techniques for application in the design of interactive information (diagrams) depending on data type and characteristics.
- Design for non-linear, interactive information presentation by applying relevant user-centered aspects (e . g., information flow, user interface and experience).
- Plan and conceptualize an interactive information design prototype in a given context.
- Empirically evaluate an implemented interactive information design prototype.
- Assess and reflect on interactive information design approaches in a given context and motivate corresponding design choices.
Content
The course focuses on how interactivity with visual forms of information can be designed, as well as how the interaction itself can convey information.
The course covers the following content:
- Design principles and their application in graphic communication for interactive information design.
- Fundamentals of information visualization for interactive information design.
- User-centered design concepts to support interactive information design.
- Conceptualization, implementation and evaluation of an interactive information design in an explorative project.
