About the course

Aim

The course aims to develop advanced knowledge and skills in technical development within electronic design. Students gain experience of professional engineering practice through project work focused on creating a product, prototype, or system, integrating knowledge from prior studies. The course strengthens the ability to conduct industry-related project work independently and professionally within electronic design.

After completing the course, students shall be able to:

  • Analyze and synthesize knowledge from relevant disciplines, such as analogue and digital electronics, micro-computers, signals and systems, mobile communications, wireless systems and networks, and signal processing, to solve complex problems in new contexts.
  • Independently plan, manage, and complete a development project, from requirements specification to final delivery, including leadership, teamwork, and technical problem-solving.
  • Document and present project results through a technical report, an oral presentation, and appropriate supplementary media, in accordance with professional engineering standards.
  • Document a life cycle assessment (LCA) that considers relevant aspects of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
  • Reflect on and consider sustainability aspects in the planning and implementation of a project.
  • Show the ability to act based on life cycle analysis to influence the surrounding society (locally, nationally, or globally) to create a more positive impact (socially, economically, sustainably, etc.).

Content

The idea is that this should be a larger final project in electronic design closely related to various electronic courses in later years of the program. The projects may vary from year to year and, if requested, may be carried out on behalf of a company.

The course includes a section on entrepreneurship that is jointly taught with project courses at Campus Valla.
