About the course
Aim
The student after completing the course should be able to:
- describe and reflect on the needs and benefits of twinning solutions in the smart city environment towards streamlining value chains in city industries
- compare and explain differences of twinning in city-vs-construction site-vs-building
- take a critical position on the motivation and impact of the digitalization of the urban environment
- argue how twinning can be used in the urban environment and identify quantifiable benefits towards urban sustainability
- evaluate security and privacy of information collected in digital twin systems
- design mechanisms for sensing and storing information in digital twin systems subject to privacy and security requirements
- Relate functionalities, terms, and technologies to the correct level in a twin system architecture
- apply models and methods for producing high level architectural views of digital twins
- quantify requirements for sensing, positioning and other IoT systems for digital twinning in smart cities
- quantitatively model and evaluate performance of selected parts of a digital twin system
Content
Digital twins is an urban development tool, where the construction's digital twins are integrated with the city's digital infrastructure. Part of this course is to understand and use sensors, positioning, and other IoT systems to be able to plan construction as part of the city's sustainable development and to use existing data and information as part of creating the “smart city. ”
- Smart Cities, definitions, domains of application citizen Inclusion and working examples
- SDGs and the City
- Intelligent construction sites - their role and impact within a Smart City - Lifecycle to becoming buildings
- The Internet of Things as a technology for the Smart City
- Digital twinning the smart city: what is under the hood – components and ICT requirements for twinning platforms
- Sensor Networking and Actuation: towards Cyber-Physical Systems
- Big Data: Security, privacy, ownership and management; legal aspects thereof
