About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to plan for the modeling of a product consisting of several parts.
- Utilize parametric modeling and explain the concepts of Top-Down/Bottom-Up-Design in connection with the use of an advanced CAD system.
- Apply a basic engineering design methodology to solve a mechanical engineering design problem.
- Apply appropriate estimation calculations in order to solve a mechanical engineering design problem.
- Select and combine various machine elements and unique components to solve a mechanical engineering design problem.
- Independently and in a structured way create and analyze parameterized CAD models, such as individual parts, assemblies, and subassemblies, as well as analyze and optimize models to meet requirements in a specification.
- Create simple detail and assembly drawings that serve as suitable documentation for the manufacturing of a simpler product.
- Plan and organize a small product development project, prepare a project plan, and distribute tasks within a project group.
Content
Fundamentals of solid modeling with the CAD system Creo Parametric. Product assemblies. Drawing production. Parameterized models. Efficient modeling techniques. Sensitivity analysis, feasibility and optimization analysis of designs. Project work.
