Project Course Advanced - Design and Manufacturing Engineering

Aim

The course aims to consolidate knowledge in design and product development through application within a product development project with industrial or research connection. After completing the course the student should:

• master the identification, selection and application of the theory and knowledge areas based on a situation-specific problem
• be able to plan and implement research and industry-related product development projects
• systematically integrate the knowledge acquired during the study period in order to solve a real design product development project.
• apply methodology and subject knowledge from construction and product development area.
• create, analyze and evaluate technical solutions.
• assimilate the contents of the relevant literature and relate their work to the
• critically review, discuss and control a product development project

Content

The course is based on a project that could be from industry or a relevant in-house project. The project contains concept generation and concept selection, modelling of product/system properties in the concept phase,. project planning. To a varying degree, students will work with CAD-modelling, dynamic simulation and other analysis techniques, and bring that to a physical realization. The course also contains some lectures on project specific technology. One theme that has been used several years is based on sustainable personal transport.
