About the course

Aim

After the course, the student must be able to:

  • Analyse, visualize and model energy engineering problems, including thermodynamic, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Perform calculations on applied energy processes at an approximate level.
  • Assess the relevance of different solutions to applied energy problems.
  • Use Matlab or equivavent calcultion tool create models applied to energy engineering problems.

Content

The course aims to give the student an expanded ability regarding analysis and calculation methodology in applied energy technology. Applied energy technology refers to technical component and system applications in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Stationary and transient system analyses are included. Matlab programming for energy calculations is included. In addition to the prerequisites, new theoretical material will be included that concerns the energy technology area. This material will be project specific, but may include, for example, wind power, pump and system dimensioning, combined cycle processes and solar power.
