About the course
Aim
The course aims to consolidate knowledge in mechanical engineering by applying the knowledge on a problem with industry or research connection. After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Plan, implement and report on a mechanical engineering project.
- Formulate research questions and define the work within given time frames.
- Systematically integrate the knowledge acquired during the previous study period to perform a mechanical engineering project.
- Apply methodological and subject knowledge from the mechanical engineering field.
- Create, analyze and evaluate technical solutions.
- Make judgments regarding relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects.
- Professionally express themselves in writing and orally.
- Take advantage of the content of relevant professional literature and relate the project work to it.
- Critically review and discuss a mechanical engineering project other than its own.
Content
The course consists of engineering projects of suitable scope where several students participate in each project. The projects are run by the students themselves in collaboration with a project owner / client.
The project concludes with a written report and oral presentations at the university during a presentation day where all students participate. The beginning of the course includes compulsory seminars and lectures, focusing on project planning, the academic writing process and engineering ethics. Information about digital publishing is also provided.
