About the course
Aim
The overall goal of the course is to provide a holistic perspective on energy planning when developing new or renovating urban districts. The purpose of the course is to study and analyze the techno-economic potential assessment for energy savings in buildings and to develop performance metrics for the thermal performance of buildings.
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the choice between constructing a new building and renovation
- Demonstrate an understanding of methods for techno-economic potential assessment for energy savings and energy simulation of urban districts.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the development of performance metrics describing the thermal performance of buildings using energy supply data.
Content
The course covers techno-economic potential assessment for different types of buildings. Energy analysis of building clusters is conducted using the IDA ICE tool. Performance metrics for buildings are developed using statistical analysis with the Matlab tool.
