About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- Show basic knowledge of concepts, problems and methods for concurrent programming and operating systems. (LAB1 + TEN1)
- Identify concurrency problems and design solutions to these problems. (TEN1)
- Describe different requirements, functionality, and architectures for operating systems. (TEN1)
- Get acquainted with an existing operating system and design improvements according to set requirements. (LAB1)
- Implement, test and systematically debug complex system software. (LAB1)
Content
The course is composed of two modules, concurrent programming and operating systems.
The concurrent programming module contains: the process concept, mutual exclusion, mechanisms for synchronisation, process interaction and deadlocks.
The operating system module contains: system calls, processes and thread, scheduling, memory management, file systems, and design principles for different kinds of operating systems such as cloud systems, mobile devices, and embedded devices.
