About the course
Aim
The course aims to provide knowledge of practical and conceptual aspects of creating web pages and web services with interactive content. After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Use and explain technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, Flask, SQL and JSON to capture interactive web content and, where appropriate, make connections to databases.
- Formulate and construct a "Single Page Applications".
- Explain the principles of web services and use simpler techniques to create and call web services.
Content
The course covers the following areas:
- Overview of WWW, HTML, Javascript and other client-server techniques.
- Programming languages Python, Flask, SQL, Websockets, JSON and other server-side technologies
The course is based on a series of laboratories where the students independently solve tasks of varying scope and degree of difficulty. The students are expected to be able to independently interpret and carry out programming tasks in the field and to be able to download, install, configure and debug the software used in the laboratories. Great emphasis is placed on creating a holistic view of web programming where problem solving is a central part. The laboratory tasks include independently searching for, assessing, assimilating and applying information about new techniques. The students must use the assigned version management system for the code they develop during the course and continuously check in code during the laboratory work (in accordance with a professional way of working)
