About the course

Aim

Efter avslutad kurs skall den studerande kunna - beskriva skolans roll och funktioner ur ett samhälls-, lärar-, föräldra- och barnperspektiv med fokus på år F-3 - identifiera grunddragen i utbildningssystemets organisation och styrning - redogöra för grunddragen i utbildningssystemets förändring över tid - resonera kring hur utbildningssystem inkluderar och exkluderar, sorterar och kategoriserar

Kursen utgörs av fyra delområden (a) utbildningshistoria (b)skolans samhälleliga roll och värdegrund (b) organisation och styrning (d) inkludering, exkludering, sortering och kategorisering i utbildningssystem. Ett kritiskt perspektiv på skola och utbildning präglar kursen. A I delområdet behandlas avgörande händelser i svensk utbildningshistoria och förändringar inom svensk skolpolitik, däribland införandet av enhetsskolan och friskolereformen. B I detta delområde diskuteras skolans värdegrund och demokratiska fostransuppdrag och hur detta har förändrats till form och innehåll över tid. C I detta delområde behandlas utbildningssystemets organisation och styrning på nationell och lokal nivå genom lagar, förordningar och läroplaner och hur dessa förändrats över tid. D Inom detta delområde behandlas utbildningssociologiska frågor om hur grundskolan hanterar mångfald med hänseende till kategorier som klass, genus och etnicitet liksom elevers olika förutsättningar att klara skolarbetet. Här diskuteras således innebörder i det som beskrivs som normalt och avvikande. Inom delområdet behandlas lärares yrkesetik som ett av de verktyg att bemöta diskriminering och kränkning skolan.
