            About the course

            Aim

On completion of the course, the student shall be able to - define and reason about the concept of culture - explain the concepts of material and immaterial culture - exemplify, illustrate, compare, and discuss Nordic cultural expressions - motivate and argue for how outdoor education can be applied in pedagogical work - apply a scientific approach to academic writing

            Content

During the course, you will explore Nordic culture from many different perspectives. Through practical excursions and exercises, you will, among other things, explore Nordic history, folklore, traditions and holidays, outdoor life, arts and crafts, music, dance, literature, and cooking. The course gives you thus both theoretical and experiential knowledge and insights about what Nordic culture means and encompasses. Since the course builds on outdoor education, it also provides you with knowledge and experience about how experiential learning can be used in pedagogical work. The course includes two field trips, which there is an additional cost for you as a student.
