About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande på avancerad nivå kunna:
- redogöra för och diskutera mångfalden av metoder för datainsamling och dataanalys inom det kognitionsvetenskapliga fältet
- redogöra för och diskutera hur olika metoder kan kombineras för att adressera en kognitionsvetenskaplig forskningsfråga
- identifiera sitt behov av ytterligare kunskap inom kognitionsvetenskaplig metod och utveckla sin kompetens i relation till det
- diskutera på vilka sätt resultat från olika metoder kan integreras
- diskutera forskningsetiska överväganden i kognitionsvetenskapliga studier
Content
I kursen behandlas aktuell vetenskaplig metod i kognitionsvetenskap som tvärvetenskapligt ämne, vilket inbegriper en mångfald av tekniska såväl som beteendevetenskapliga metoder från artificiell intelligens, människa-datorinteraktion, neurovetenskap och psykologi. Mer specifikt tar kursen upp formella metoder som datormodellering och matematiska eller logiska bevis, empiriska metoder som intervjuer, ögonrörelsemätning och hjärnavbildning, samt interventionsinriktade metoder som aktionsforskning och forskning-genom-design. Forskningsetiska principer tas upp och integration av resultat från olika sorters studier behandlas.
