About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- redogöra för några aspekter av den svenska rasbiologin i relation till dess internationella kontext
- redogöra för några av den svenska rasbiologins tillämpningar
- kritiskt reflektera kring några konsekvenser som den svenska rasbiologins tillämpningar fick för olika grupper i samhället med avseende på genus och etnicitet
Content
I kursen behandlas svenska eugeniken i sin internationella kontext under perioden 1909-1975, samt de förändringar den genomgick under denna period i takt med att samhället förändrades. I kursen diskuteras centrala teman till att förstå historiska samhälleliga föreställningar kring biologisk ras, människosyn, föräldraskap, naturvetenskapens möjligheter samt samhällsutveckling som gjorde rasbiologin och dess tillämpningar möjliga.
