About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- beskriva problemområden inom medicinhistorisk forskning om pandemier
- identifiera några medicinhistoriska källmaterial om historiska pandemier
- tillämpa medicinhistoriska perspektiv på historiska pandemier och sociala konflikter de aktualiserat
- redogöra för hur perspektiv utifrån lokala och globala maktförhållanden, kolonialism och genus kan påverka förståelsen av historiska pandemier
Content
I kursen ges utifrån pandemier som pest, kolera, influensa och HIV/AIDS exempel på hur olika samhälleliga konflikter diskuteras inom det medicinhistoriska forskningsfältet. Aktuella teman är relationer mellan lokal och global pandemihantering, maktförhållanden, kolonialism och genus. I kursen ges exempel på historiska källor som använts för att studera samhälleliga effekter av historiska pandemier.
