About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- redogöra översiktligt för den historiska utvecklingen från forntid till nutid med avseende på politiska, sociala, kulturella, ekonomiska och miljömässiga förhållanden
- på ett grundläggande sätt analysera historisk förändring
- utifrån regionala, nationella och globala perspektiv jämföra den historiska utvecklingen i olika samhällen och diskutera hur likheter och skillnader har uppstått
- förmedla kunskaper både muntligt och skriftligt
- genomföra uppgifter inom givna tidsramar
- utöva källkritik på historiska källor
- reflektera över jämställdhet och jämlikhet ur ett historiskt perspektiv
- kritiskt analysera historiska framställningar med beaktande av olika historiska perspektiv
Content
Kursen indelas i fyra delkurser. I tre av dessa behandlas svensk och internationell historia översiktligt från forntid till nutid och i den fjärde delkursen ges en introduktion till historievetenskap och historieförmedling.
I de tre kronologiska delkurserna analyseras hur olika strukturer – som exempelvis klass, genusrelationer och andra maktordningar – har producerats, reproducerats och förändrats. Historiska perspektiv på hur processer och förhållanden – politiska, sociala, kulturella, ekonomiska och miljömässiga – har präglats av kontinuitet och förändring över tid och mellan olika geografiska områden behandlas. Förståelsen av det förflutna problematiseras genom att kritiska perspektiv på historieskrivningen integreras.
Forntiden – 1500, 7,5 hpI delkursen behandlas de tidiga kulturerna i medelhavsområdet, de antika grekiska och romerska samhällena, den tidiga medeltidens feodala och kristna samhällen, Nordens forntid, högmedeltidens intensiva samhällsutveckling och kriser i Europa under senmedeltiden.
1500 – 1800, 5 hpI delkursen behandlas bland annat framväxten av nationalstater i Europa, de religiösa omvälvningarna, utvecklingen av kunskap och idéer samt de geografiska upptäckterna och deras följder i form av kolonialism, internationell handel och kontinentala konflikter.
1800 – nutid, 10 hpI delkursen behandlas bland annat det industriella genombrottet, demografins förändringar, demokratiseringsprocesser och hur politiska strömningar som till exempel nationalism och socialism tagit sig uttryck. Även 1900-talets väpnade konflikter, kalla krig, kapprustning och fredssträvanden samt koloniernas frigörelse ingår i kursen.
Historievetenskap och populärhistoria, 7,5 hpI den fjärde delkursen introduceras olika historiesyner, forskningsmetoder och teoretiska perspektiv inom historievetenskapen, såsom exempelvis genus, klass och etnicitet. I kursen belyses även översiktligt historievetenskapens framväxt och hur historien använts och används. Relationen och skillnaden mellan historievetenskap och populärhistoria diskuteras. I kursen ingår moment kring populärvetenskaplig förmedling i olika medier, med fokus på historiska källor och källkritik.
