Aim

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• absorb the contents of relevant nonfiction in the area for the current work and put the work in a context
• apply the knowledge and skills that have been acquired in the first-cycle studies
• write an essay in statistics on first-cycle level and orally be able to present and defend the essay and its message for an audience with varying degrees of knowledge in statistics
• carry out a review of another essay at first-cycle level in statistics.

Content

The aim of the course is that the student should be able to carry out a larger cohesive work on first-cycle level in statistics. The contents of the course are decided on the basis of on a problem that is chosen for each group. As a rule, the problem should be an application from outside of the university. The course is devoted to solving the chosen problem with the assistance of supplementary literature studies and writing of an essay. The essay should be defended at a public seminar with a critical review. The course also includes a review of another group's degree project (or the equivalent).
