About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- redogöra för och jämföra nutida planeringsteorier samt relatera dessa till den historiska utvecklingen av samhällsplaneringens idéer
- redogöra för hur teoretisk kunskap tar sig uttryck i utformning av planer och städer inom dagens planeringspraktik
- tillämpa och identifiera olika metoder och verktyg inom planeringsprocesser
- söka i databaser och identifiera relevanta vetenskapliga artiklar
- genomföra och försvara ett projektarbete med inriktning mot teori och praktik inom samhällsplanering
Content
Kursen behandlar de planeringsteoretiska strömningar som präglat de senaste årtiondena på djupet samt blickar framåt kring idéer och visioner om stads- och landsbygdsutveckling. Fokus ligger på att förstå teoriernas utveckling och hur teorierna kan omsättas i den praktiska planeringen. Internationella teoretiska exempel från regioner med olika ekonomiska förutsättningar kommer inkluderas för att få in alla dimensioner av hållbarhet. Genusperspektiv behandlas teoretiskt inom kursen. Vidare kommer verktyg och modeller som används inom planeringspraktiken behandlas. Kursen avslutas med genomförande av ett vetenskapligt arbete.
