About the course
Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- redogöra för och med utvecklad analytisk förmåga använda centrala språk- och litteraturvetenskapliga begrepp
- kritiskt tillämpa språk- och litteraturvetenskapliga teorier och metoder i analyser av språkliga uttrycksformer, produkter och processer på engelska
- utifrån aktuell forskning kritiskt diskutera språkliga och litterära företeelser och frågeställningar
- genomföra en uppgift utifrån givna tidsramar
- uppvisa hög språklig säkerhet i olika sammanhang med tonvikt på formell engelska samt uppvisa förtrogenhet med stilistiska drag
- konsekvent följa vedertagna normer för den litteratur- respektive språkvetenskapliga skrivtraditionen, inklusive citat- och källhantering

Språk- och litteraturvetenskaplig teori och metod, 5 hp
Delkursen utgör en orientering i både språk- och litteraturvetenskaplig teori och metod, där även centrala begrepp behandlas. Teori- och metodfrågor som aktualiseras i uppsatsskrivande diskuteras.
Litteraturvetenskap, 5 hp
Critical Engagements.
Delkursen utgör en fördjupad orientering i engelskspråkig litteratur, där skönlitteratur från olika epoker och strömningar analyseras i dialog med ett antal litteraturteoretiska perspektiv.

Delkursen utgör en fördjupad orientering i engelskspråkig litteratur, där skönlitteratur från olika epoker och strömningar analyseras i relation till sin sociala, historiska och politiska kontext.
Språkvetenskap, 5 hp
Translation Studies
I delkursen studeras översättning som process och produkt. Översättningar av olika typer av texter såsom vardagssamtal, sakprosa, skönlitteratur och poesi analyseras utifrån såväl egna översättningsval som översättningsteoretiska perspektiv.

Applied Discourse Studies
I delkursen studeras olika typer av språkdata utifrån olika diskursanalytiska perspektiv. I delkursen ingår analyser av t ex medietext, policytext, tal och samtal med hjälp av t ex kritisk diskursanalys, ekolingvistik och multimodal samtalsanalys.
