About the course
Aim
The course aims to provide advanced knowledge in conducting technical development projects within control engineering. This means that the student is expected to be able to do the following after completing the course:
- Analyze and synthesize knowledge from various disciplines related to control engineering to solve complex problems in new contexts.
- With a high degree of independence, plan and execute projects using a project model from requirements specification to final presentation, including management, group collaboration, and technical problem-solving.
- Document and present project results in the form of a technical report, film, website, oral presentation, and poster.
- Document a life cycle assessment (LCA) that considers relevant aspects of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
- Reflect on and consider sustainability aspects in the planning and implementation of a project.
- Show the ability to act based on life cycle analysis to influence the surrounding society (locally, nationally, or globally) to create a more positive impact (socially, economically, sustainably, etc.).
Content
Description of the projects with project directives can be found on the course website. The projects will be closely linked either to ongoing research in the field of control engineering or to companies operating in this area. Examples of projects related to research activities include projects related to industrial robots or autonomous vehicles. More specifically, one can consider path following or sensor fusion as possible topics for projects. We already have extensive thesis work in control engineering conducted at companies, and we plan to carry out projects in close collaboration with some of these companies. The nature of the projects may change from year to year.
