About the course
Aim
After completion of the course the student will:
- be able to use tools for the production and handling of immersive images, video and sound as well as program immersive real time graphics,
- be able to individually or in group plan, produce and present immersive media productions where the immersive techniques are effectively utilized to convey a message, and
- be able to critically as well as professionally analyze and reflect over existing technologies and practices for immersive production.
Content
In this course we study and explore the technical and artistic considerations in media production for immersive environments such as head mounted displays, domes, VR cubes and curved screen environments. Such environments offer great opportunities for the creation of exciting and unusual media forms but present special challenges in the design of media and in the contents preparation.
The course is based upon practical use of technically advanced media technology, such as combinations of (stereo) video, computer graphics (interactive and pre rendered), immersive audio and other media suitable for the presentation environment.
