About the course
Aim
The aim of the course is to equip students with the necessary knowledge to develop programs in C++. To pass the course, the student must fulfill following learning outcomes.
- To use dynamic memory management.
- To define classes with overloaded operators.
- To build class hierarchies.
- To use containers, algorithms, and iterators from the C++ standard template library.
Content
Memory management: stack versus heap, pointers, dynamic memory allocation, common memory handling pitfalls. Singly linked lists. Pointers versus references. Classes and inheritance. Constructors and destructors. Operator overloading. Static members. Friends. Public inheritance. Virtual functions. Abstract classes. Static versus dynamic binding. Polymorphism. Objects’ slicing. Lambda functions and function objects. Templates. C++ standard template library: container classes, iterators, and algorithms.
