About the course
Aim
To provide foundations for constructing computer programs and to convey specific skills in a high level programming language, C++. Basic programming concepts and techniques are introduced. Upon completion of the course, the student should fulfill the following learning outcomes.
- To describe the output of a program from the source code.
- To describe the following concepts: compilation, source code, object code, executable code.
- To use basic data types such as integers, floating point numbers, and Booleans.
- To use selection statements in programs.
- To use iteration statements in programs.
- To use sequence data in programs.
- To write programs that use programmer defined data types.
- To construct functions, use different types of parameters, and return values.
- To construct programs modularly from subprograms (functions), where every subprogram performs one task.
- To use basic file processing in programs.
- To use the functionality from basic standard C++ libraries.
- To construct a program that solves a given problem following good programming practices.
