About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- master the concepts and tools of rotor dynamics,
- understand and confidently apply the differential equations that govern the rotor behaviour,
- model and analyse rotors using analytical and numerical methods.
Content
Equations of motion for rigid and elastic rotors, the impact of isotropic and anisotropic bearings, space fixed and rotating frames, eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes, critical speed, resonance, Campbell diagram, asymmetric rotors, finite elements.
