About the course
Aim
The course aims to give a good knowledge regarding the material groups biopolymers and biocomposite. To do this the course will start within the generel area of polymer materials. After the course the student should be able to:
- Describe the inner structure of the material groups.
- Understand the coupling between inner structure and properties of the materials.
- Understand suitable manufacturing processes.
- Understand how the surrounding environment influences the properties.
Content
- Biopolymers (and polymers in general)StructureMechanical propertiesHygroscopic effects (swelling, moisture-softening, the dependence of creep rate on moisture content etc.)Manufacturing processesTheory of elasticity and viscoelasticityMechanical models for linear viscoelastic responseCreep, stress relaxation and dynamic mechanical testingFracture and fatigue
