About the course

Aim

After completing the course, the student should be able to

  • choose and apply methods to problems in both parts I and II of the course, as described in the course content.
  • present and justify solutions to tasks within the course content using relevant concepts and clear reasoning

Content

Part I - Differential Calculus

Functions of a real variable. Limits: definition, calculation and standard limits. Continuity. Properties of continuous functions. Derivative. Derivation rules. Derivatives of elementary functions. Properties of differentiable functions. Curve drawing, tangent and normal, asymptotes. Local and global maxima and minima. Higher order derivative. Applications of differential calculus.

Part II - Integral calculus

Primitive functions. Default primitives. Partial integration and variable exchange. Primitives to rational functions, functions containing certain root expressions and trigonometric functions. The Riemann integral: definition and properties. The main theorem of analysis and integration of continuous functions. Integration methods. Generalized integrals: definition and calculation. Estimates of sums and integrals.
